Client found capable of managing own affairs
Verdict

Estranged daughter of elderly client attempted to get guardianship for client and assume control of multi-million dollar estate. After a trial, the court determined that our client was not in need of any kind of guardianship and could continue to manage her own affairs. We had reason to believe this case was primarily about the daughter's attempt to challenge our client's last will and testament (even though our client is still alive), which made the defense of our client's mental capabilities all the more important.

Truck/Car accident - Significant Closed Head Injury

This case was made more difficult because of inadequate investigation by police. As a result, the police report placed blame on our client.

Truck/automobile accident - Death

Client's vehicle was run over by a large commercial truck while she was making a left turn. The accident occurred left of the center line in the road. We were not involved in this case until almost 2 years after the accident and less than 75 days before trial. The initial police report was
very damaging because the trucker claimed our client was on the shoulder of the road, he moved just left of center as he was going by her car to give her room, and she suddenly turned left in front of him. We had to use the surveying data the defense's accident reconstruction engineer gathered 2 days after the accident to prove the police officer was wrong. Case settled on the eve of trial.
